Advocacy and Legislative Issues Task Force
Mission
To increase advocacy by policy makers and stakeholders in securing reimbursement for self-management of diabetes and to enhance prevention of diabetes and/or its complications through identifying existing laws or need for new legislation.
Objectives
- Identify priority strategies for reducing the burden of diabetes in North Carolinians.
- Create awareness among decision and policy makers of the burden of diabetes.
- Identify public and private resources to help reduce the burden of diabetes.
- Determine need to enact legislation or policies to enhance self-management of diabetes.
- Propose opportunities to strengthen or expand existing legislation and/or policies.
- Work to ensure all payor plans provide comprehensive coverage of diabetes care.
