If you already have Diabetes, you can prevent complications by maintaining an A1c level that is below 7 and by taking prescribed medications, regularly checking your blood sugar and following the following best practice guidelines: annual dilated eye exam, annual flu shot, pneumonia vaccine, regular foot checks, at least two A1c tests per year, regular physical activity and by maintaining a healthy weight.
