Prevention, detection and management for the individual, family, community and state

North Carolina ADA Recognition Program

Background

The NC Division of Public Health has applied to the American Diabetes Association to become an "umbrella" recognized program to provide diabetes self-management education, commonly referred to as ADA Recognition.
DPH partners with local health departments to bring the LHD on as "multi-sites" under this umbrella recognition.
ADA recognized programs can bill Medicaid, Medicare and private insurers for self-management training

Purpose

To increase access to self-management training in all areas of the state
To provide reimbursement to local health departments for providing this education
To address health disparities
To encourage linkages with statewide and community partners
